(Hunter) riding classes for the beginner, novice or intermediate rider. Students will receive two classes of riding each day. The morning ride is an hour of structured lesson. And the afternoon ride is games on horseback (Mon - Thurs).
From the program’s start, students learn how to handle themselves around horses and how to keep themselves and their horses safe. In addition to riding, they learn how to catch, halter, lead, groom, saddle and bridle.
The first day of each session our riders are evaluated on their riding skills and placed in appropriate riding groups. Many of our riders are first time riders, others have been participating in our lesson programs.
Beginners can expect to learn to control the horse at the walk, and begin to trot, post, and ride in a 2-point position.
More advanced riders will improve their knowledge on equitation and jumping skills.
Lecture is a time for the children to learn about horsemanship. Throughout the week they will learn about horse safety, feeding, grooming, different types of tack, tacking up a horse. In addition they learn about parts of the horse, different breeds and coat colors, conformation, showmanship, equine first aid, bandaging, braiding, clipping and caring for tack.
Each week ends with our very own Horseshow. Students will receive ribbons based on their personal achievement.
And when our students are not on a horse, they enjoy supervised swimming in our pool, arts & crafts and just having fun with new & old friends alike.
Friday is always “Pizza Day”. Students who want to participate need to bring $3.00. They will enjoy pizza and a drink.
