Safety Rules & Regulations

Use caution when working around horses.
Never ride alone.
Treat all horses with dignity and respect.
All riders mounted must wear an ASTEM/SEI-labeled riding helmet at all times that properly fits on the riders head.
Anyone with medium/long hair must keep it in a ponytail; no clips or barrettes are allowed under your helmet.
Wear fitted clothes with shirt tails tucked in.
Do not feed or pet the horses without permission. Remember they may bite.
No smoking allowed on premises.
No alcohol beverages allowed on the premises.
Please leave all dogs at home.
Treat equipment and tack with care. Clean all tack and put it back in the proper location after you ride.
No running or yelling around the horses.
Never stand directly behind or in front of a horse.
Always use a lead rope and halter to catch and tie your horse.
Never wrap or tie anything attached to your horse around your body in any way.
No eating, drinking or chewing gum while you are riding.
Place all trash in the proper receptacles.
No heavy jewelry may be worn while working around the horses. Please leave rings, earrings, necklaces, bracelets and heavy pendants, etc. at home. Tall Cedars Farm, Inc. will not be responsible for lost or stolen items.
Latch all chains on the gates properly.
Never leave horses in the stalls with bridles or saddles on unless you have gotten permission from a Tall Cedars or Galloping Acres representative.

Required Riding Apparel

	ASTM/SEI approved riding helmet.
Riding boots or hard-soled shoe with at least a 1/2 inch heal, that is durable, comfortable and safe, is required at all times, in the barn area and when mounted.
	Riding pants are strongly recommended. Long pants are required. Chaps are acceptable but are not preferred for students that plan to show.
Leather riding gloves may be worn to protect your hands from blisters and cold weather.
	If you are planning to show, you will need to consider purchasing clothing suitable for formal shows. Such items could include a show helmet, jacket, blouse, riding pants, belt, and garters to name a few. Your instructor will be able to help you compile a list of show apparel.
